My dad always used to jokingly (unless he knows something astronomers don’t) refer to “Well, when the comet hits you won’t have to worry about xyz because it’ll all mean nothing”.
A similar concept, but in picture form:

Probably applies to my recent post on real estate/housing bubbles huh? People claiming their lives are horrible because they can’t seem to find an affordable house, or those with mortgages complaining about interest rates going up 0.25% or perhaps those when the crash inevitably happens: whining about not being millionaires like the papers promised them.

A old article on “straight backs bad for posture” posted by a friend on facebook reminded me of the picture I had used in one of my weekly news “roundups”. Those friends of mine who used to receive my “Nathan’s random roundups” (a weekly satirical look at the weird and wonderful news in the world) might remember this little picture:

This big old visualisation from the accurately named informationisbeautiful.net really sums up the reason there are problems trying to satisfy such different mindsets.

Though I’m a sucker for information visualisation I should disclose. Data and concepts such as this can (and should) be interesting.

Taking a cat for a walk in San Francisco

Just digging through some old pics I took while in SF and came across this one of a guy taking his cat for a walk.

Why should dogs have all the fun?

If you look carefully you’ll see the cat has plenty of entertainment up on the shoulders.
