The evidence stacks up

Both got mullets/long hair, blue skin and a love of mother earth that borders on x rated. The Na’vi are at home in skimpy loin cloths and Captain Planet is at home in red lycra underpants and dashing red boots. Both have clashed with giant robotic bulldozers, both have fought to save trees and both fell from grace to rise again with the help of the animals/mother Earth to drive out evil badguys who are hell bent on messing with the environment to the maximum extend apparently for no real reason other than greed.

The superman theory

So come clean Avatar cast: are we going to find out later that, like superman, Captain Planet is just a wayward Na’vi? Perhaps he floated across the expanse of space via one of those funky floating mountain lumps when a vine or two snapped. Then due to his link with the power (powers combined!) of the Earth he kicks arse on planet Earth for a while to inspire a multicultural bunch of “special kids”.

And I may just have found the missing link..

Maybe it’s time for a captain planet movie? Just un-stretch the 3D models and.. well.. you’ve pretty much got the basics of a captain planet TV show.

Not only can they fly, squeeze under fridges, withstand a wide range of squash/flush and crush attempts (once I squashed one only to have then rip its “spine” out of its squashed body and keep on walking: just head, legs and trailing entrails as if nothing were the matter: better even because it was now a light weight version) but the bloody things don’t even need to piss!

That means there’s no “breaking the seal” problem on cockroach drinking nights thanks to this amazing little bacteria they picked up 140 million years ago. No conflicts between male cockroaches and feminazi cockroaches over the toilet seat issue.

The cast iron bladdered creatures can stay up all night drinking in the post apocalyptic world without having to head off to the little cockroach’s room if they so choose. As an added bonus they’ve completely removed the whole awkward standing next to strangers at pub urinals issue (play the urinal etiquette game here if you don’t know what I’m talking about)!

Then after a hard night of drinking and recycling urine they can stumble home in the dark using the Earth’s magnetic fields to find their way. Amazing little revolting things.

A quick update as I’ve been a bit waylaid with getting back to the working world and haven’t even found much time for the new toy. But life’s going fine (and it’s nice to be earning an income after the bumming around on the bike touring in Europe). Heading into “winter” in Sydney I’m pretty relaxed about the temperature as I won’t be getting stuck in snow here.

I’m clear to point out several things (to be fair):

• they’ve gone into some much MUCH crazier terrain and parts of the world (e.g. mongolia, russia etc)
• but they have backup 4WDs, celebrity status and the resources of the BBC to get them through whatever happens
• but I pay for all my shit out of my own pocket

The real long way round

I think they had a great trip and I think the cringe motorcyclists have with a series like the long way round is that they’re firstly a bit jealous that Ewan and Charley got paid to do the trip, got free gear, bikes etc and have backup/organising team. The series shows the complaining/troubles they have along the way, which to people who have done some big trips on motorcycle: those bits are the memorable ones. I might have to hold this off to another time to rant about arm chair motorcyclists, so I’ll get back to the videos I want to show you.

Anyhow, this series called “Ewan and Thingy – the wrong way round” might get a chuckle out of anyone who knows about “The long way round”.

Scary thing is that there are a tonne of serious ones from the coal industry making grandiose claims about technology that simply does not exist.

The “together for London” bit is right: everyone together, trying to make it onto the train with complete disregard for anyone else.

Let’s look at it in parts..

	This helpful chap is trying to say “give up your seat for someone else”. Firstly that’s assuming that the person has a seat and isn’t stuffed up in the cleverly designed tube shaped carriages that are designed for minimal seating and maximum discomfort if you haven’t got a seat and are anything above 5 foot nothing. Secondly this guy is clearly an emo with that haircut and pale skin. So for them to be wearing that t-shirt it’s probably just being ironic and showing off the teen angst. Let’s see the back of it eh?
	Where on the tube can you get reception on your mobile? This one was obviously a misprint: here’s the correct one.
	Let’s be brutally fucking honest: anyone who wears big arse silver headphones isn’t going for subtle or consideration of others. And with those sideburns he’s probably put a few people’s eyes out on the tube in addition to deafening countless others. They’re going to be blaring out some godawful cheesy shite RnB or some indie band they’ve deprived of income by downloading their mp3s. The whole point of walking around public wearing headphones is really about being able to ignore everyone else. It’s rare to find a big bling pair of headphones that don’t have exposed speakers which mean they broadcast out as much as in.
	Bit unnecessary as there’s no where to drop litter on the tube because of the million and one shittily written crapsheet free newspapers that sheeple take each day read about what posh and becks had for lunch and who Britney flashed her pink bits to recently. That’s if they don’t leave it on way up the escalator in some teetering pile waiting to crush some unfortunate small child.

One final big mistake

Anyone pick what else is wrong with it?

Since when does anyone bloody smile on the tube eh? This will NEVER change and any ad that implies people are happy to cram into awkwardly shaped slow cooking devices on tracks like mopey, grumpy sardines. People look at you funny if you smile at them, wondering whether you’re going to stab them or merely kick them into a coma (and rightly so given the stats).
