China has a huge ongoing problem with fake food products. The latest one I’ve come across is this video showing an investigation of completely man made “fake eggs”.

This follows on from something I remember from my time in HK whereby duck eggs in China were doctored with a carcinogenic dye.

I’ve mentioned fake food/medicine/supplements from China in my past blog: China may well solve global warming.. Kinda including:

Food that’s “Made in China” is pretty scary
It really is a worry to be considering sending any food production toward China. The pollution in China is already ridiculous and getting worse. I wouldn’t trust anything coming out of there to not have lots of heavy metals and carcinogenic crap stuffed in it.

Chinese Oysters: Top quality ingredients!

Chinese Oysters: Top quality ingredients!

I’ve already given up trying to get smoked oysters (a guilty scoff-a-whole-tin pleasure of mine) because the only ones in the shops now come from China and I don’t fancy eating the “filters of the sea” from one of the most polluted places on Earth.

It is quite difficult to determine whether this is just another hoax about Chinese food. Given the food scandals that have occurred in the recent past, fake eggs would seem plausible. However, the amount of time and effort required to produce these fake eggs looks to be quite high, adding a layer of implausibility. so I would wonder whether it isn’t an April Fools joke which has somehow gone viral?
This video seems to be real, but there are a lot of hoax claims apparently from a few years ago for the same thing.
    Interesting anyway.
Considering all the food scandals, etc, it would seem prudent to avoid Chinese foods anyway… which I do.
